What is the benefit to me?

The course will prepare you to take a leading role in the organisation and delivery of child health services in your locality and country of origin.

We offer advanced study for child health professionals including paediatric consultants and specialist registrars.

We also welcome others with professional qualifications related to child health and an appropriate level of experience.

Three core strands run throughout the course:

  • Developing leadership and management skills for the organisation and delivery of child health services within a multidisciplinary and multi-agency framework
  • Developing skills in critical appraisal and evidence-based practice of child health
  • Developing an ecological and child-centred approach to the practice of child health

Students from a range of disciplines participate in the course, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of child health practice and enhancing the learning opportunities of all students.

Particpants from overseas are particularly welcome and bring with them different perspectives from their own countries and cultures. Course participants from overseas are requested to bring health-related materials from their native countries. This may be in the form of annual reports, development plans, national and/or regional health data and statistical summaries.

These will be used in the course to illustrate the range of issues faced by developing countries, and may contribute to project and dissertation work.
