Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance

This air ambulance service is our key partner and we value our bilateral relationship with them hugely. This relationship is currently growing so that we, as medical students and members of the University of Warwick, can show charitable support for this fantastic local organisation, whilst they are keen to provide us with education and experience relevant to the pre-hospital work they perform each and every day. 

By building on this partnership we hope to:

• Encourage medical student involvement in the charitable events organised for WNAA
• Engage with the other students and staff at the University to promote awareness of WNAA and charitable contributions
• Provide assistance at and raise money for local WNAA events
• Learn from the expertise of the medical staff of WNAA, enabling regular specialist student exposure to pre-hospital medicine

STEP are currently raising vital funds for WNAA via a booksale and we hope this will become an annual event, by which WMS graduates donate their used but re-sellable textbooks to us and then we can sell them online to raise cash for their mission costs, flight kit and training. STEP recently attended the first ever WNAA Annual Conference at the Ricoh Arena. It was an opportunity for us to network with the fundraising and medical staff of the service, gain a greater understanding of the work they perform and to meet many of the dedicated volunteers and supporters of the charity that help raise the necessary cash to keep the helicopter flying. It was motivational to see and hear all about the hard work that both the air ambulance staff and their supporters have done in the last year, encouraging us to work harder to help fundraise for their life-saving missions. We soon hope to be providing details to WMS students on how they can become more actively involved in fundraising and/or volunteering with WNAA.
