Chemistry welcomes back alumni and friends
Warwick Chemistry’s 2010 alumni open day on Saturday 6th March was a real success! Around 50 alumni and friends visited the department and met up with old contacts and saw our new facilities and equipment.
Alumni , parents and friends toured our new teaching labs, met current academics and students and were also given a chance to see our final interior plans for the new Chemistry building.
We set up a viewpoint in the 5th floor common room to give an overview of the area where the new building will be before the chair of department, Professor Peter Sadler gave an exciting update of our recent successes and current research strategy.
The highlight of the day for many was a noisy, frothy, bubbly display of whizz-bang chemistry by Nick Barker, our dedicated outreach officer, which raised smiles on everyone’s faces! Our alumni (and some of their children!) were given a most satisfying display that showed off how exciting and interesting chemistry really is.
The buzzing atmosphere spilled over into the evening drinks reception and on into the newly redeveloped Students’ Union where we enjoyed a meal in the Dirty Duck, one of the Union’s brand new eating facilities. Thanks to all those who came for making it such a good day – we hope to see many more of you at events in the future!
