Welcome to the webpages of the Gibson Group! Our research is focused at the interfaces of Organic and Polymer Chemistries with the Life Sciences. Our motivation is "The design and synthesis of novel macromolecular materials which are intended to interact with, mimic, or replace a particular biological receptor/system".We are particularly interested in probing cell membrane interactions.

We make use of modern polymer and organic methods to obtain either wholly synthetic or hybrid polymer/peptide based (nano) materials for various applications including heathcare, sensors, bionanotechnology and fundemental studies on macromolecules. Group Vacancies

Ph.D. Students interesting in conducting a (fully funded) Ph.D at the interface of chemistry/biology should contact Dr. Gibson ASAP. We have several funding possibilities in place but there are deadlines for These.

Masters Chemistry students wishing to undertake an MChem project within the group should read the information here and contact Dr. Gibson if interested.

DTC training miniprojects. Life Science, MOAC or systems biology students. We normally take 1/2 students from these DTCs. Please contact Dr. Gibson if you would like to discuss potential projects.
