Positions available in the Wills Group

POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS:

Any postdoctoral positions in the group will be advertised here. However applications for advertised postdoctoral positions should be sent via the personnel office, not directly to me.

POSTGRADUATE STUDENTSHIPS - SORRY BUT THE POSITION BELOW HAS NOW BEEN FILLED: Meanwhile feel free to contact me at any time regarding other PhD opportunities.

I currently have a studentship available,, which must be filled by as soon as possible, in the area of catalysis of organic reactions using iron- and ruthenium-catalysed asymmetric reactions - contemporary research in asymmetric catalysis is shifting towards the more readily available metals such as iron. My group has projects in this challenging area, in which we have recently published research results (see papers 109 and 112 in my publications list) and a review 'Asymmetric catalysis using iron complexes - 'Ruthenium Lite?'. Ruthenium, one of the least expensive of the precious metals, still benefits from excellent catalytic properties and our work in this area is directed at high value applications and also minimising the amount we need to use.

As the project is funded by EPSRC, applicants must satisfy eligibility requirements* which can be found at http://www.epsrc.ac.uk/skills/students/coll/icase/Pages/faqs.aspx. and http://www.epsrc.ac.uk/skills/students/help/Pages/eligibility.aspx . Applicants must have obtained a 2.1 or better MChem or BSc degree in chemistry or a relevant related subject.

Further details can be found here. Please contact me directly for more details.

*Please note - ELIGIBILITY - The stipend can only be offered to UK citizens or EU-citizens who have lived in the UK for over 3 years (e.g. as a student). EU-citizens not resident in the UK may not be paid a stipend, and only university course fees will be paid. Applicants from outside the EU are not eligible for this post due to restrictions on funding.

The closing date for applications is 24th October 2013.
