Access Grid Node

Access Grid (AG) aims to facilitate group interaction across the Internet. The AG comprises a collection of nodes through which individuals or groups in geographically dispersed locations can interact. CSC installed an AG node in January 2004 and the node is currently 'live' and available to the University for production use. Please consult the AG Project web site for general information on AG including a list of AG node locations worldwide.

CSC Access Grid Node

AG fundamentally differs from standard ISDN or IP based video conferencing by allowing multi-way interaction as opposed to the traditional 2-way video conference. Access Grid is not compatible with standard video conferencing technology and all participants in an AG session must have physical access to an AG node (any University members requiring standard video conferencing should contact audio-visual services). Likewise, commonly available H323 based video conferencing clients such as gnomemeeting or netmeeting are not AG compatible and cannot be used.
