Laptop Access at the CSC
|
Wired connection of laptops to the campus network can be arranged by registering the machine's MAC address through the central IT Services helpdesk. The host academic should submit an IP address request including the MAC address, laptop operating system, your name, department and your ITS user account name. You can usually find the MAC address on a label attached to the back of your laptop. It is a string of hex numbers i.e. 00:0F:2C:5E:D7:34. Different notations may look like: 000F2C5ED734 or 00-0F-2C-5E-D7-34. ITS usually validates MAC addresses within 24 hours and the user's laptop can then obtain an IP address via DHCP. Please note that CSC cannot provide support for laptops connected to the campus network in this way. In addition, IT Services provides a number of wireless services for both Warwick staff or students and visitors. |
