Chancellor’s and Chancellor’s International Scholarships

Who is eligible?

All full-time MPhil/PhD students are eligible, including those who are already partway through their first year at the point of application.
Home and international students are considered separately, with the number of awards allocated to each category differing from year-to-year.
Part-time students may also apply – please contact the department for advice.

What is covered?

Tuition fees at either the Home/EU or Overseas rate.
A maintenance stipend in line with RCUK minima.
3.5-year award.

What is the timescale for applications?

Applications are accepted September-January in the academic year preceeding the start date of the award.
The selection process runs from late-January; applicants are informed of the outcome by the end of March.

How do I apply?

You will be provided with the option to apply when filling in your online application for your chosen course. Simply fill in the appropriate details when prompted.
Be aware that in order to properly assess your application the relevant committees may require additional supporting information, and as such you should ensure that all information requested is provided promptly.

EPSRC DTGs (Doctoral Training Grants)

Who is eligible?

UK students studying for an MPhil/PhD who are either due to start at the beginning of the next academic year, or who will be going into their second year at the beginning of the next academic year.

What is covered?

Tuition fees at the Home rate.
A maintenance stipend in line with EPSRC minima.
3.5-year award.

What is the timescale for applications?

Applications are accepted from January-May in the academic year preceding the start of the award.
The selection process runs from late-May, and applicants will be notified of the outcome no later than the end of June.

How do I apply?

You must already hold a conditional offer on your chosen course in order to be eligible to apply for these awards.
To apply you should talk to your supervisor in the first instance, well in advance of the late-May deadline date. Your supervisor will submit an application on your behalf and make a case for your award.
Be aware that in order to properly assess your application the relevant committees may require additional supporting information, and as such you should ensure that all information requested is provided promptly.

Joint Warwick-CSC Awards (China Scholarship Council)

Who is eligible?

Applicants seeking to study for an MPhil/PhD who are citizens and permanent residents of the People’s Republic of China.
The CSC aim to select only the highest-quality applicants, and so exceptional achievement is essential.
Applicants must already hold an unconditional offer on their chosen course, and be proposing to study a topic that is in line with the current research priorities of the CSC.
