Elisabeth Titis
Background
I am a senior PhD candidate (final year) at the Warwick Institute for the Science of Cities (WISC), University of Warwick, Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HES), and a senior graduate teaching assistant (SGTA) at various departments (Computer Science, Psychology, WBS, WMG). I am sponsored by the EPSRC and supervised by Prof. Rob Procter from the Department of Computer Science, Prof. Lukasz Walasek from the Department of Psychology, and Prof. Jessica Di Salvatore from the Department of Politics and International Studies. My field of expertise lies in data analytics, human-computer interaction and research ethics in social sciences and humanities. My general research interests are in food access and health and urban resilience, and in my research I integrate a mixture of quantitative and qualitative methods, with a strong focus on spatial analysis. I am also a qualified music performer (violin) and a music teacher (classical music). Privately, I am passionate about WDCC collectibles, and I enjoy travelling and meeting people from various cultural backgrounds.

Research
My research is on food desserts and food swamps (physical distance from food outlets) and childhood obesity in the U.K., with a particular focus on various travel modes, geographical variation (urban context), and spatial accessibility. I developed numerous models using OLS, exploring both main effects and interaction terms, and plan to use fractional polynomials and spatial regression in order to better understand how food distance influence diet and obesity.
