    Modules for Year 3 Engineering

    BEng

Select 120 CATS from modules offered in the School of Engineering at level 3, excluding ES3B7 Individual Project (Part A) but including either ES3B1 Individual Design Project 15 CATS or ES327 Project 30 CATS.

These are listed on the page above this.

    Accreditation

Please note that the BEng Engineering degree is accredited by the IET, IMechE and InstMC where students meet the conditions set out below. Accreditation at BEng level recognises that only part of the academic requirements for CEng status will be met and therefore graduates will be required to undertake further learning. Advice on what constitutes further learning is available from each institution. Some institutions impose a II-2 classification as the minimum for accreditation and all require that the candidate passes a project such as ES3B1 or ES327.

    IET

Students must pass 60 CATS of modules drawn from one of the following list:

    ES335 Communications Systems 15 CATS

ES372 Automation and Robotics 15 CATS

    ES382 Quality Techniques 15 CATS

ES386 Dynamics of Vibrating Systems 15 CATS

ES390 Fundamentals of Modern VLSI Design 15 CATS

ES3A3 Analogue Systems Design 15 CATS

    ES3A4 CAD/CAM  & Simulation 15 CATS

ES3A8 Design for Manufacture 15 CATS

ES3B2 Digital Systems Design 15 CATS

ES3B3 Electrical Machines & Power Systems 15 CATS

ES3C1 Measurement and Instrumentation 15 CATS

    ES3C2 Mechanical Design 15 CATS

    ES3C5 Signal Processing 15 CATS

    ES3C8 Systems Modelling & Control 15 CATS

    InstMC

Students must pass 60 CATS of modules drawn from one of the other degrees accredited by these organisations, i.e. Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering or Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering. Two of these modules must be selected from:

ES372 Automation and Robotics 15 CATS

ES3C1 Measurement and Instrumentation 15 CATS

    ES3C5 Signal Processing 15 CATS

ES3C8 Systems Modelling and Control 15 CATS

    IMechE

Students must pass 60 CATS of modules drawn from one of the other degrees accredited by this institution, i.e. Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering.

    MEng

Students wishing to graduate with one of the MEng Engineering degrees must follow a spine through year 3. Students taking the Year 3 Engineering 'mix' of options may not proceed to year 4.
