The University of Warwick’s Formula Student team will be holding their official launch event at WMG on Thursday, March 8, 2012 – all are invited to attend to hear about the teams efforts this year.

This week saw the culmination of many weeks of hard and tedious work to bring together the main structure of the chassis- the space frame. The whole process of design, measuring, cuting, notching and welding has come together to resemble something that is actually starting to look like a car.

The bottom end of the old 525 EXC motor is now rebuilt and the work on the head is underway. We are going to continue with the plethora of measurements needed, checking the valve lift and the position of the timing rotor in relation to TDC. We're hoping to have the engine completely rebuilt by Monday, stay tuned!

After spending nearly 3 weeks trying desperately to get the car started and getting shot down at every hurdle we decided it was time to make the call and started stripping the car. The team would have loved to have been able to test the car, the way the project works at Warwick each team is a single year group and each year a new car is designed a built based on the previous one, the approach is evolution rather than reinvention...
