Undergraduate Engineering student meets Brunei Royal family

Third year Civil Engineering student Zong Hao Tan was privileged to meet His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, at a ceremony in London recently.

His Majesty delivered a titah (royal speech) to guests attending the event on 28 December, after which he met with Bruneian students over afternoon tea. The students were selected as those who have achieved excellence in their studies and are active in extra-curricular activities.

Commenting after the ceremony, Zong said: "As a scholar of the Government of His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, I am extremely grateful to be awarded the opportunity to study at a Russell Group university and aim to contribute towards creating a knowledge-based economy in the sultanate.”

Zong is in his third year of a MEng Civil Engineering degree at the University of Warwick. He is also a representative on the Student Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC).
