Warwick professor receives prestigious research medal

The IET Achievement Medals are awarded to individuals who have made major and distinguished contributions in the various sectors of science, engineering and technology. This year, the IET have awarded a medal to Professor David Hutchins from Warwick's School of Engineering. He was the only UK-based academic researcher to be awarded an Achievement Medal.

Professor Hutchins received his award for “his seminal contributions to the application of innovative ultrasound technologies to industrial problems. These include nuclear safety, the prevention of accidents in deep hard-rock mines, non-destructive testing (NDT) and instrumentation for a future Mars lander. He has also worked in other sensor technologies, demonstrating a wide variety of interests and additional impact”.

David has been with the School since 1988 and is Director of the Advanced Imaging and Measurement (AIM) Lab.
