    RESEARCH PROFILE


    • Role for neuronal-glial communication in brain disorders and brain ageing with particular focus pathological signaling mediated by
    astroglial NMDA and P2X receptors;
    • Role for neuron-glia communication in memory and cognition with particular focus to the homeostatic regulation of neural circuits in the framework of tripartite synapse;
    • expression pattern and functional properties of glutamate and ATP receptors in brain astrocytes;
    • Vesicular release of ATP from central synapses and its role in synaptic plasticity and development;
    • Impact of ectopic release and spillover of neurotransmitters on
    synaptic transmission in health and disease.
