    BBSRC Vacation Bursary

A BBSRC funded vacation bursary is available for a science undergraduate to work over the summer (10wks within July-Sep 2009) on a research project in any area within the BBSRC's remit (http://www.bbsrc.ac.uk/science/remit.html) -- although given that the project is through the mathematics department, maths or stats should play a dominant role.

It is open to middle year UGs on basic science Degrees (eg Mathematics, Statistics, MORSE, Physics, Computer Science, Biology), and preference will be given to 3rd years moving to their 4th year in Oct 2009. Attendence at suitable courses in previous years will of course be useful and you should expect to get a First or 2:1. The bursary stipend is about £200-£250 per week.

The intention is for students to participate in a research project, possibly joining an ongoing programme. They will have a supervisor, either a member of staff or postdoc assistant; however students can suggest suitable supervisors and projects if they wish.

At the moment, if you're interested please email me M.J.Keeling@warwick.ac.uk together with a brief summary of your interests. By the end of May I hope to have a set of shortlisted projects which I will try to match with interested students.
