SIAM National Student Chapter Conference 2013
Registration Now Open: Please register here (deadlines extended to 1st May).
Note: From 7th-10th May the School and Conference on Control and Games will be taking place at the Maths Institute. The event will finish at 1pm on the 10th, so there very little overlap, so it would be possible for interested parties to attend both. Further information for those interested in attending can be found here.
SNSCC13 aims to bring together undergraduate and graduate students, young researchers and faculty from a wide range of disciplines across the country, sharing a common interest in industrial and applied mathematics. This provides a great opportunity for young researchers to gain experience in presenting their work and gaining insight into other areas; and gives undergraduates an idea of the kind of research that is currently being undertaken in the vast field of applied mathematics, helping them to make decisions about possible PhD topics and widening their horizons.
SNSCC13 will be held this year at the University of Warwick on Friday, 10th May.
Plenary Talks:
- Accuracy and Reproducibility of Numerical Computations, Nicholas J. Higham - University of Manchester
- Magnetic chains: from self-buckling to self-assembly, Alain Goriely - University of Oxford
- Phase transitions and computational tractability, Mark Jerrum - Queen Mary, University of London
Sponsor Talks:
- Implementing Algorithms: the link between academia and industry, Edvin Deadman, The Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG)
