Mathematics of kinetically constrained dynamics and metastability

4 - 8 January 2016
Organisers: Paul Chleboun, Stefan Grosskinsky, Fabio Martinelli

The aim of this workshop is to bring together mathematicians and physicists working in the area of large scale stochastic dynamics, in particular glassy systems and metastability. This is a very exciting and active field of research, giving rise to powerful new methods for studying interacting particle systems and a wealth of applications across physics, biology and economics. It has attracted attention in statistical mechanics and applied probability, and the workshop aims to contribute to the very fruitful interaction between the fields, sharing new ideas and methods of analysis.

Topics include [but are not limited to]

Connection between kinetically constrained models and glassy systems, dynamic heterogeneity, aging phenomena, slow relaxation, cut-off phenomena, mathematical approaches to metastability (including potential theory, martingale and pathwise approach), extensions to non-reversible systems, metastable dynamics of phase separation phenomena

Registration

All Warwick EPSRC Mathematics Symposium workshops are open to anyone interested within the mathematical sciences community. There is no registration fee for this workshop, but all prospective participants (including speakers) are required to register here (scroll down until you find the link for this workshop).

Logistical information and financial support

The meeting will take place in the Zeeman Building at the University of Warwick. Information about Warwick and how to get here can be found in the links on the right.

The EPSRC has provided limited funds to support the travel and accommodation expenses of workshop participants. We expect visitors to cover travel and accommodation expenses from their own grants whenever reasonable to do so. Financial support can be requested during the registration process.
