Rogue Waves and Strong Nonlinearity in Wave Turbulence

This one-day workshop will bring together theorists and experimentalists in the field of wave turbulence to discuss the phenomenon of "rogue waves" - rare but large amplitude wave events which can often cause catastrophic damage in practical applications. The discussion will focus primarily of the role or strong nonlinearity in generating such events and whether any useful connections can be made with the established weakly nonlinear theory of wave fluctuations as described by weak wave turbulence.

Talks will be held in Room B3.02, Mathematics Institute, Warwick University
