Information for Offer Holders

Congratulations on receiving an offer for the MathSys programme! We hope that you will be joining us in September. In the meantime we have compiled some information which you may find useful.

I have received an offer for the course - what happens next?

Your offer for a place on the programme may be unconditional or it may still have conditions attached which need to be fulfilled before your offer is confirmed as unconditional. Your offer is issued by the the Postgraduate Admissions Service and once you are in receipt of an offer you will need to liaise with them regarding all aspects of the admissions process. Useful information and links can be found here.

In addition to your offer of a place on the MathSys programme you may have been offered a CDT studentship. If this is the case, you will have received a separate letter from us, setting out the details of the offer of funding and a timescale for acceptance of the offer.

I now hold an unconditional offer for the MathSys programme, what are the next steps?

The Postgraduate Admissions Service will send you communications via email and you will be able to access the offer-holders portal for further information. We also encourage you to read our Information for New Students.

Where can I find guidance on enrolment and practical information?

We would suggest you look at the University's Welcome pages in the first instance.

Where can I find guidance on academic preparation for the MSc in Mathematics of Systems?

You may already have looked at the course structure prior to applying and may wish to revisit these pages in advance of starting on the programme. On each of the module pages you can access resources such as the syllabus, reading lists, and notes. You may wish to look at these resources if you would like to do some reading in advance of starting on the course. We will also contact you in the summer with some general background reading recommendations.

In term two, you will take optional modules and do not need to make these choices until several weeks after arriving on campus, by which time you will have had the opportunity of discussions with the MSc Coordinator and your personal tutor. The availability of optional modules varies from year to year so, although the current listing of optional modules is a good indicator of the types of module available, many are run by other departments and we cannot guarantee that they will be available every year.

What about other MathSys activities?

You can get a sense of the kinds of activities that take place in the CDT by reviewing our Twitter account and the CDT calendar of events.

When do I need to arrive at the University?

Your course start date is listed in your offer, and is usually the Monday of the week before the academic year commences - also known as 'Welcome Week' or 'week zero'. We schedule a week of welcome and induction activities including events and sessions such as the Director's Welcome, a series of Introduction to Computing sessions, and a chance to hear the graduating MSc group's project presentations.

If I have questions about MathSys who can I contact?

In the first instance please address questions to the CDT Administrator by emailing complexity@warwick.ac.uk or by telephone on 024 765 26763.

We hope that this information is helpful, and we look forward to welcoming you to Warwick!
