The talk took place at 9am in GLT1 Structural studies on a Meningitis B vaccineResults from a study undertaken by MOAC and chemistry PhD student Angela Martino and her supervisor Alison Rodger were published this week on 4CMenB (a new meningococcal B vaccine). The results adds to the weight of evidence which it is hoped will bring about licensure and introduction of this vaccine into the UK schedule. The work was supported by Meningitis Research Foundation and undertaken in collaboration with scientists at the National Institute for Biological Standards and Control at Potter’s Bar and Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics. The results from the study defined the structural stability of one the essential vaccine components, NHBA, and determined the conditions under which it will be able to stimulate antibodies that will kill meningococcal B bacteria as part of the vaccine.More details can be found at http://shar.es/fyDC1 and Vaccine, 2012, Vol. 30, issue 7, pp. 1330-1342 doi 10.1016/j.vaccine.2011.12 On 19th Jan 2012, the 2011 MOAC cohort graduated.... congratulations to them all! |
