School of Life Sciences Project Impact Prize

Two undergraduate students in the School of Life Sciences have been recognised for their outstanding research in the School's first Project Impact Prize.

Final-year students Archna Shah and Sarah Brocklesby explored the rapid rise of multi-drug-resistant bacteria such as; bacteria S. aureus and E. coli. The pair identified structural information of the enzymes and focused on cloning, expression, purification and crystallisation.

School of Life Sciences said: "Archna and Sarah’s clones have made a pivotal contribution to this project at its very earliest stage and we expect that the project will lead to significant advances in antibiotic drug discovery in the future."
