    PX366 Statistical Physics

The short address for this web page is http://go.warwick.ac.uk/px366. The syllabus is here.

    Support

The lecturer is Mike Allen, office PS1.40 on the first floor of Physical Sciences. If you have questions about the module, the best place to ask them is on the Forum (see the link in the left column). My email address is m dot p dot allen at warwick dot ac dot uk. Only use the "Page contact" link below to notify me of errors on this web page.

Some supporting material (lecture notes, copies of handouts and more) will be available (see the link in the left column). An archive of last year's material is also available (this year's course may not be identical). Currently I am revising the course content in the light of recent events affecting the Second Law of Thermodynamics.

    The Examination

Here is the link to past PX366 exam papers.

This is my second year lecturing and examining this module, so you should be aware of the following similarities and differences when looking at these papers.

    • The format of the exam will be the same as in the last couple of years: a choice of two out of three questions (no compulsory question), with a time limit of 1.5 hours, calculators allowed.
    • Each question will have a short descriptive part as well as a problem or calculation part.
    • The topic examined in Q3 (Summer 2010) is not included in the module this year.
