Giuseppe joins the department as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the Centre for Fusion, Space and Astrophysics.

His research focuses on the study of coronal phenomena by means of analysis of solar EUV image data from STEREO and SDO space missions. In particular, he is going to study MHD wave phenomena in the solar corona, relating them to the coronal heating and the acceleration of the solar wind.

Giuseppe is a graduate of Plasma and Astrophysics at the University of Calabria in Italy, where he also got his PhD in Physics of Complex Systems in December, 2011.

Kareem joins the department as a Research Fellow in the Centre for Fusion, Space and Astrophysics group. The focus of Kareem's research is the study of plasma turbulence in the solar wind. In particular, how its intermittent and non-Gaussian character impacts the nature of energy dissipation. Previous work has included applying multi-spacecraft data analysis techniques to the determination of the inertial range cascade rate and spectral anisotropy.
