The Wellcome Trust invites applications for its collaborative awards in science. These promote the development of new ideas and speed the pace of discovery. The trust funds teams of researchers, consisting of independent research groups, to work together on the most important scientific problems that can only be solved through collaborative efforts.

Teams should normally consist of more than two but no more than seven applicants and be based at eligible organisations in the UK, Republic of Ireland or low- or middle-income countries. Exceptions can be made for projects that require specific expertise or resources provided by team members based in other countries. Each applicant must have proven research expertise and experience in their field, an academic or research post or equivalent, and a salary for the duration of the award period.

Awards are normally worth up to £4 million over a period of up to five years which may be used to cover research expenses.
