The British Council, in collaboration with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, via the Newton Fund, invites applications for its research environment links grants – UK and Vietnam. This supports capacity building activities in any discipline proposed by applicant institutions in Vietnam working with partner organisations in the UK. The call is flexible and responsive to in-country needs, allowing applicants to establish collaboration on areas linked to country priorities and development needs, and to bring in relevant UK expertise.

Proposals must have one principal applicant from Vietnam and one principal applicant from the UK. All principal applicants must be leading or established researchers. The collaboration can also be extended to associate partners, including other eligible institutions or for-profit organisation.

Grants are worth between £50,000 and £140,000 each for a duration of up to one year. Matched funding of 50 per cent is required from the Vietnam applicant institution or another source. Grants may cover a range of costs, including human resource costs, service fees for UK expertise, operational costs, travel costs, consumables and communication costs.
