    Visits to the University

    We welcome visits to the university by schools groups, and our enthusiastic academics and research staff would be delighted to tell you about their work.
    • Tour of the department or wider university
    • Interactive demonstrations for small groups
    • Seminars (Suitable for a wide range of age groups)

    A visit to the university including all of these components might typically last a couple of hours.

    • optical, electron and scanning probe microscopy

    Seminars

    Members of the department give talks on various topics to a wide range of age groups and levels. The seminars can be delivered at the University, or in some instances at local schools or societies. Research done within the department covers the whole Physics spectrum from the smallest (elementary particle physics), through the study of what is around us (condensed matter physics) to the biggest (astrophysics).
