Getting to campus and car parking

  • We are on the central campus of the University of Warwick located on the outskirts of Coventry.
  • The nearest rail station is the Coventry Intercity rail station four miles from the University. The nearest bus station is the Pool Meadow Bus Station in central Coventry about six miles from the University. Bus 12X is the fastest public transportation to get from both the rail station and the bus station to the conference. You must pay the exact fare by cash only. Taxis are also available.

  • If you're driving, contact us at eurowd16@gmail.com and we will send you the link to our car parking permit website where you can register, download and print your permit which is to be displayed in your vehicle.

Conference registration

  • This is separate from room check-in (see below).
  • Conference registration will be open from 6pm to 10pm at the BBQ reception (Map #10), and in Warwick Arts Centre from 8:30am to 10am on Monday (Map #1). After that time, please go to Warwick Conference reception (Map #4).

Wi-Fi access across central campus

  • Conference delegates can access the Warwick Guest Wi-Fi network around campus and within their accommodation. Note that you will be asked for a phone number and you will receive your passcode on your phone. You can also request to receive your passcode on your email. Ask at Warwick Conference Reception (Map #4), your hotel, or our EuroWD16 Registration Desk for assistance to be able to read your passcode.

Radcliffe (Map #11) and Scarman (Map #12) hotels

  • These high-end options have their own receptions and you should go directly to the hotel for check-in.
  • Check-in time is from 3pm and check-out time is by 10am.
  • Note that the Radcliffe hotel is closed on Saturday 23 July and it might not be possible to do an early check-in.
  • Ask the reception to leave luggage.
  • The breakfast room is within the hotel.
  • The Radcliffe Restaurant is open from 7pm to 9pm for guest only.
  • A bar menu served from 12:00 - 22:00 each day, which is available for everyone.

Jack Martin (Map #8) and Rootes (Map #9) check in

  • Warwick Conference reception is located within the Atrium of the Student Union building (Map #4).
  • This is where you must go to obtain your room keys.
  • Bedroom keys are available from 15:00 to 22:45 at Warwick Conference Reception.
  • If you arrive after 22.45, you will need to go to the Security Gatehouse (Map #13) to get your keys. Your keys will be automatically transferred to this location at closing time.
  • You will be provided with a key or key card which will access your room and entry door to the residence.
  • Breakfast are provided in Rootes Restaurant located on the first floor of Rootes Building (Map #3).
  • Please have with you your room key to gain access to the restaurant.

Jack Martin and Rootes check out

  • Rooms need to be vacated by 09:30 on your day of departure. Luggage and belongings should be removed by that time.
  • On the day of departure, keys can be left at Conference Reception (in the Students Union building, Map #4), Rootes Restaurant (in Rootes Building, Map #3) or one of the boxes situated in the entrance halls of each residence.
  • A left luggage store is available in Warwick Conference reception (Map #4).

Food and drinks

  • Please inform the LOC at eurowd16@gmail.com if you have a particular food allergy (one of the recognised fourteen food allergens) or a lifestyle dietary requirement (for example: vegan, halal or Kosher). There will be vegetarian options available by default.

Shops, banks and cafes on central campus

  • Rootes grocery store (Map #5) is located across the street from the conference venue and next to the Student Union building.
  • There is a pharmacy located in the Students Union building and Rootes grocery store which sells toileteries and a variety of items.

Restaurants and Bars
All lunches and coffee breaks will be provided to conference attendees. Breakfast will be provided for those who have booked on-campus accommodation. Dinner will not be provided except for those going to the banquet on Tuesday night. There are a few options for food around the campus:

  • Le Gusta Oven & Bar is in the Warwick Arts Centre (conference venue, last order 9pm, closed on Sunday).
  • Cafe Bar is a small outlet in the Warwick Arts Centre (conference venue, until 9pm).
  • The Varsity Pub, with an extensive bar menu, is a 5 minute walk from the conference venue (drink symbol on the top right corner of the map).
  • Xananas is a bistrot style restaurant in the Student Union Building across the street from the Arts Centre (until 10pm, Mon-Fri).
  • Terrace Bar (until late) and The Dirty Duck (food until 9pm, bar until late) in the Student Union Building (Mon-Fri).
  • The Bar is on the first floor of Rootes building, across the street from the Warwick Arts Centre (open until 10pm).
  • Ninety-One, an upscale dining option in the Scarman hotel (Map #12), open Mon-Thu from 6pm to 9pm.
  • Radcliffe Restaurant is open for hotel guest only from 7pm to 9pm.
  • Rootes Restaurant is open for Jack Martin or Rootes guest only from 7pm to 9pm.
  • You can also travel off-campus to Coventry, Kenilworth, or Leamington Spa. Please note that buses have a period of around 30 minutes. You can also use taxis.

Sports facilities (Map #9)

  • Guests have free unlimited access to Warwick Sports premium leisure facilities on campus.
  • Opening hours are 07:00 to 21:30 (Monday to Friday) and 08:15 to 19:30 (Saturday and Sunday).
  • 25 metre swimming pool and sauna, state of the art gym, and running track.
  • Other sports facilities can be used but at additional charge.
  • You will be required to show your bedroom key to access the facilities.
  • Lockers are available and require a 1 pound coin.
  • Towel hire is available at a minimal charge.

Miscellaneous

  • Taxis are available on Health Centre Road opposite Warwick Arts Centre (Map #6) at most times of the day. Alternatively you can contact Conference Reception on 02476 528910 for more information and relevant phone numbers.
  • Electricity is supplied at 220/240v and 50 cycles AC. Adaptors are available to purchase in Rootes Grocery Store on Central campus.
  • A launderette is situated between Rootes Building and Rootes residences, opening times are available from Conference Reception for self-service washing and drying.
  • All machines and driers are operated using a card payment system which can be purchased from the launderette at a cost of 10 pounds (2 for the card and 8 of available spend for use on machines or driers). Washing powder and softener is not provided. You can purchase this from Rootes grocery store.
  • A dry cleaning service is available in Rootes Grocery Store and the Chemist situated in the Student Union Atrium.
  • Delegates using the Rootes and Jack Martin options will have access to a shared kitchen. Please note these areas will not contain any cooking equipment or utensils.
  • For urgent issues, contact Conference Reception on 02476 528910. We do not have a resident doctor available for conference delegates, but in the event you require a first aider, this can be done via our 24 hour Security Team on 02476 522083. Alternatively there is a Walk-In Medical Centre in Coventry.
  • There are two branches of banks (Barclays and Santander), both have cash machines in the Students Union Atrium (Map #4).

  • There is also a cash machine outside Rootes grocery store. Cannon Park Shopping Centre is within a ten minute walk and has a large supermarket and several smaller retail shops.
