My research interests are mainly centred around structural studies of perovskites, initially looking at Bi(Me)O3-PbTiO3 systems, but expanding to systems such as Ag(Nb,Ta)O3 and (Na,K)0.5Bi0.5TiO3.

Some new work has been looking at the layered ferroelectric structure of Ag2Nb4O11:

The lovely people at APL have sent me a copy which can be downloaded here
by anyone. Copyright (2011) American Institute of Physics. This article may be downloaded for personal use only. Any other use requires prior permission of the author and the American Institute of Physics. The article appeared in the above citation and may be found via the above link. Phew.
Here's another about a related material:

This new paper brings together various structures in perovskites and shows that many can be considered intermediate phases between variants characterised by displacement, tilting and cation ordering:

Here's a paper where we used electron diffraction to identify the phases present in simulated waste glass. A mere 6 years later, it was published. One of the most carefully considered papers ever:

On a musical note, here are some things I get up to in my increasingly rare spare time. This is me
playing one of my favourite guitar solos on my favourite guitar with my favourite band. Thanks to Jo for recording and uploading it. I think this is the best I've ever played it.
Here's another version of the same
, the quality of the footage is better but my playing not as good. Thanks to Jon for recording and uploading this.
Finally, if you can't stand the sight of musicians, this is good footage of us. Here
, here
, here
and here
. Thanks to Mr. Danger for these.
