Prospective Undegraduate Students

There are two main entry streams to undergraduate physics at Warwick: Physics and Mathematics and Physics. In either stream, you will study some beautiful ideas, explore deep questions about the nature of our universe and develop many practical and valuable skills.

Typical Offers for Entry in 2012

Candidates must offer Advanced or Higher level qualifications in Mathematics and Physics. Details of typical offers made to applicants, who are not taking A-levels, are given elsewhere. Offers will normally exclude General Studies at A or AS level. The University welcomes, but does not require, a Key Skills qualification.

Physics

Degree courses F300 BSc/PhyS and F304 MPhys/Phy

The typical offers will be:

AAA at A level to include A in Physics, A in Maths and A in a third subject.

Candidates offering Further Maths at A2 and/or securing an A* in Mathematics or Physics at A2 will receive additional consideration for entry after the A2 examination results (August 2012) in the event of having narrowly missed the conditions of the typical offer.

Mathematics and Physics

Degree Courses Mathematics and Physics GF13 BSc/MathP, FG33 MPhys/MP

The typical offers will be:

A*AA at A level to include A* in Maths (or Further Maths), A in Physics and A in a third subject.

The third subject can be Further Maths or another academic A level. Candidates offering Further Maths at A2 and/or securing an A* grade in Physics will receive additional consideration for entry after the A2 examination results (August 2012), in the event of having narrowly missed the conditions of the typical offer. Candidates who have taken A2 Maths early, i.e. before the introduction of the A* grade, will be offered a place based on an A grade in Maths.

Physics and Business Studies

Degree Course FN31 BSc/PhyBS

The offers will be the same as for Physics given above.

All applicants who receive an offer will be invited to an Admissions Open Day. These are held between November and March (see panel on right). Applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements may be interviewed, for example those without GCSE English.

The Department welcomes applications for deferred entry from students taking a gap year.
