PhD / MPhil / MSc in Psychology
Warwick's Psychology department has three distinctive assets for providing postgraduate research training. First, the current academic staff are internationally recognised researchers in their respective fields. Second, we currently have a thriving group of postgraduate students carrying out a wide variety of research. Third, we consider the laboratory facilities at Warwick to be among the best at any Psychology department in the UK.
At Warwick, we offer postgraduate research degrees (MSc, MPhil, PhD) which are awarded for a thesis reporting original research by a student under the supervision of one or more members of staff.
A PhD is an essential requirement if you want to secure University teaching and research jobs. This qualification can also open up a range of other career opportunities, and our graduates have taken posts in industry, health services, further education, and clinical psychology. For students who do not aspire to complete a PhD, but would like an advanced academic qualifcation, the MSc programme provides the perfect opportunity to develop expertise in basic psychological science and applied issues. For many students the MSc will be on the pathway to a PhD.
