Current Research

A Molecular and Systems Analysis of G protein-mediated signalling.

The overall aim of this project is to utilise a combination of in vivo experimentation with computational modelling, to produce a mechanistic understanding of the molecules that regulate signalling networks mediated by heterotrimeric G proteins. The pheromone response pathway in Schizosaccharomyces pombe will be used as a model for G protein mediated signalling.We aim to develop an in depth and quantitative understanding of the molecular machinery that enables RGS proteins to set the threshold levels of eukaryotic GPCR signalling. Through a combination of in vivo experimentation and computational modelling it is hoped that a unified quantitative description of eukaryotic GPCR regulation will be generated.
