The emergence of medical statistics: A little bit of history

 

Two events, Major Greenwood's appointment to the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the publication of Bradford Hill's book "Principles of Medical Statistics", are discussed. The contexts in which these events took place are considered along with their role in the development of medical statistics in the United Kingdom.
