Apostolos Gkatzionis

I am a fourth-year PhD student at the Department of Statistics, University of Warwick. Briefly, my research is on the presentation of results of (Bayesian) inference on statistical models containing categorical explanatory variables. My supervisor is Professor David Firth.

More generally, I am interested in many areas of Statistics, including (but not limited to):

  • Generalized Linear Models
  • Nonparametric Statistics
  • Spline Methods in Statistics
  • Data Visualization

Publications

"An Approximation for the Multivariate Posterior Distribution of Parameter Contrasts", A. Gkatzionis. In preparation.

Teaching Experience

Throughout my PhD I have taught tutorials and exercise classes in the following undergraduate courses, in the Department of Statistics at Warwick:

Other

  • For the 2013-2014 academic year, I was co-organiser of the Young Researchers' Meetings (YRM) seminar series, together with Tom Honnor.
  • While at Warwick, I am regularly attending the CRiSM seminar series. I have also participated in two reading groups, one on Mathematical Statistics (in the 2011-2012 academic year) and one on Spatial Statistics (in 2013-2014).
  • I am a student member of ISBA, RSS and IMA.
