    MASAMB workshop

    Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 March 2010

Mathematical and Statistical Aspects of Molecular Biology

    20th Annual MASAMB workshop

    Room B3.02

Mathematics Institute, Zeeman Building, University of Warwick, Coventry, United Kingdom

Bioinformatics and statistical genetics, twin themes of the long-running series of annual MASAMB meetings, have gained huge impetus from large-scale genome sequencing projects and development of high-throughput biological assay systems, including gene-expression microarrays, next generation sequencing, proteomic and metabolomic technologies. These immense data resources, and the underlying complexities of molecular and cell biology, provide exciting research opportunities for numerate scientists. With typically around 60-80 participants from mathematics, statistics, computer science, bioinformatics, biology and related fields, the MASAMB meetings provide an intimate setting for exchange of ideas in methodological and applied research. Research students and scientists newly entering the field of genomic research are particularly welcome.

Details of previous meetings are available at the MASAMB archive.

The meeting will be followed by a workshop on Learning and Inference in Computational Systems Biology (LICSB 2010)

    Keynote Speaker:

Professor Peter Donnelly, Professor of Statistical Science & Director of the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, Oxford
"Human recombination hotspots, evolution, and the PRDM9 gene"

Likely topics for sessions this year

Analysis and Inference of Biological Networks
    Systems Biology
