Jane Daniel

Jane Daniel graduated from Warwick with a BSc in Mathematics and Business Studies in 2005. She subsequently joined WMG and gained a Masters in Engineering Enterprise Excellence.  During her Masters work Jane became interested in the role of business in society and corporate social
responsibility. In her PhD she aims to produce a transition model that will guide a company from cosmetic social responsibility to a values-led approach.

The principles behind CSR are hard to ignore with increased media attention focusing on issues such as food miles, energy ratings, the greenhouse effect, emissions quotas, recycling and carbon footprints. However the most common response has been cosmetic; glossy reports, public relations and media campaigns are the mainstay of this social responsibility approach. A minority of organisations take a more holistic view of their social responsibility and aim to integrate their social responsibility vision throughout the company. Jane’s project will determine how an organisation currently practising strategic corporate social responsibility can transition to practising values-led CSR, with the aim of producing a transition model that will guide a company from cosmetic social responsibility to a values-led approach.
