Education Profile
Our focus is education and not just training. We educate people to understand the bigger picture and encourage students and executives to introduce new thinking. Our offering ranges from undergraduate, postgraduate to post experience and doctoral. Having collaborative centres in India, China, Malaysia, North Cyprus, Singapore and Thailand enables us to deliver our world renowned programmes to an international market.
Since 1980 we have seen more than 25,000 individuals studying with us. In the academic year 2010/11 we awarded over 700 Masters' degrees and around 400 professional awards. Being awarded the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education in 2009 was a tremendous honour and highlights that our philiosophy of providing academic excellence with a clear business focus is a winning formula.
Undergraduate
Our undergraduate engineering degrees offer opportunities for students to benefit from a range of expertise and facilities. Staff who teach the undergraduate programmes also deliver educational programmes internationally and our research excellence enables students to reach their highest possible standards. Examples of this include multi-disciplinary teams of students applying their skills and knowledge to build a rescue robot or a racing car to compete in competitions across the world, including international Robocup Rescue and IMechE’s Formula Student. A new project in the last two years has seen our students build an electric go-kart and compete in the Purdue evGP event held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Postgraduate
Full-time Postgraduate Programmes attract high calibre students who want to make an impact whether in business, engineering, technology, management or as an entrepreneur. Modern leaders need an appreciation of science, technology and engineering in order to succeed. By studying with us individuals are taking a key step in investing in their future. In return we will enable them to gain the skills to compete and further develop. Having the opportunity to work with our leading researchers and being taught by tutors who have industrial experience is of tremendous benefit.
Research Degrees
We offer the opportunity to combine doctoral-level education with business relevance through our Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Engineering Doctorate (International) (EngD) degrees.
