Warwick has an award-winning careers service. Whether you have no idea about a career, or need help getting into your chosen area of work, careers consultants are available for one-to-one discussions about your career aspirations, and about making effective job applications once you have decided on your career path.
The Warwick Engineering Doctorate programme develops engineers capable of technological and operational innovation and with the skills to manage in a competitive business environment. It is an alternative to the PhD and better suited to industry’s needs, being highly flexible and able to accommodate participants at any stage of their career. You would develop a portfolio of innovative projects within your company as well as attend taught modules at WMG to develop your competencies.
We can offer research degrees in many topics corresponding to the interests of our members of staff. The research interests WMG staff are extremely varied.
Postgraduate students are accepted to study for a 3-year PhD (or occasionally an MSc by research for 1 to 2 years). Part-time registration over a longer period is also possible. Research degree programmes do not contain any examinations, but you would be required to submit annual progress reports; you may also attend lectured modules on appropriate topics.
You would be allocated a supervisor, who will help you define a particular PhD topic in more detail. The direction of the project may continue to evolve throughout its duration. You will also hold regular meetings with a progress panel to monitor progress and give advice.
You will also be encouraged to give seminars, publish your findings, present at international conferences and to undertake (paid!) laboratory demonstrating work.
