This module will introduce the fundamentals of digital healthcare from a biomedical engineering perspective. It is intended as a primer to introduce the students to the breadth of topics that digital healthcare encompasses, including:

• Historical introduction to the field of biomedical engineering
• Physiological systems: Cardiovascular, Neuromuscular, Respiratory
• Bioinstrumentation and biosensors
• Electrophysiology
• Biomechanics
• Safety and ethics in biomedical engineering
• Biomedical engineering methods for diagnosis and monitoring (including issues of noise, artifacts, repeatability, sensitivity/specificity, statistical and clinical significance)
• Digital Technology
