                                          PhD employer networking event
                                          IDL, WMG, University of Warwick

This 10th annual PhD employer networking event is being held on Tuesday 16 May, 5-7pm, in the International Digital Laboratory.

The event is a chance to meet employers who can give you information on the types of opportunities available to PhD students/graduates and how you can build on the skills you have learnt during your PhD.

For those students that are considering moving out of academia, it is an excellent chance to make contacts and explore your options. However, the event is for all PhD students, regardless of career aspirations.

It is an opportunity to improve your networking skills, and for those who want to continue in academia, to make links with industrial and commercial employers that may be useful in your future career.

Improving supply chain integration in construction

The UK Government have recently published their Industrial Strategy Green Paper: a long-term plan to put research and innovation at the heart of industrial strategy.

A key part of industrial strategy is investment in economic infrastructure and with up to 2.5 million new homes needed by 2025, innovation in resource-efficient and low carbon manufacturing, and improved supply chain integration have never been so critical.

Join our Supply Chain Research Group at the Discovery Day to learn more about developing a UK construction industry that is fit for the future at this two part networking event.

During part one Professor Jan Godsell will discuss the findings of a recently completed research project looking at supply chain integration in construction. Whilst part two, will focus on harnessing opportunities through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF).

Speakers at the event include representatives from WMG's Cyber Security Centre, Concentra, Costain and Pinsent Masons.

Harnessing the potential of Industry 4.0; How ready are you?

Join us for our second open networking event of 2017 on the topic of Industry 4.0.

The term Industry 4.0 originates from the high-tech strategy of the German government, which sought to redefine the role of manufacturing post global economic downturn. It suggests that we are on the cusp of the 4th Industrial Revolution, a cyber-physical age which will be realised over the next 20 years.

At this event we will assess the readiness of different countries, industries and business types to embrace the opportunities of the cyber-physical age, by evaluating the results of our online survey.

To assess your organisations readiness for Industry 4.0 complete the survey here.

For updates and more information visit our Supply Chains in Practice (SCIP) website.
