Welcome to the Centre for Applied Linguistics

[c]

Welcome to the Centre for Applied Linguistics at the University of Warwick. We are an international centre, engaged in a wide range of teaching, research and consultancy activities that focus on language: how to use it, how to learn it, how to analyse it and how to teach it. Over the years, our students have come from more than one hundred different countries, and all our staff have lived and worked outside the UK.

As an international centre, we welcome opportunities for international collaboration, and welcome visitors, students, teachers and researchers from around the world.

The University of Warwick has signed an agreement with the National College English Testing Committee of China which is based at Shanghai Jiaotong University. A team of people, under the leadership of Dr Claudia Harsch, will be reviewing test items for the new computer-based version of the College English Test Band 4 (CET-4). More

The Centre has linked with the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China, to promote our mutual research and teaching interests in intercultural communication. More

The Centre has linked with the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations for collaborative activities in testing, including a new MA ELT (Testing & Assessment) degree. More
