    Staff in the Centre for Applied Linguistics are involved in a range of activities associated with testing. This includes:

    • Training in Testing. Our staff have extensive international experience in running training courses in language testing and assessment. Our current provision includes:
      • MA ELT degree with a specialism in English language testing and assessment;
      • Diploma or certificate in ELT with a specialism in English language testing;
      • Short courses in testing and assessment and/or courses that include testing, both in the UK and throughout the world. More.

    We have linked with the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations for collaborative activities in testing, including the MA ELT degree (Language testing & assessment). More

    • Research Communities. Claudia is the convenor of the EALTA SIG Assessing Writing. Member access here.
      Assessing Writing Symposium at Warwick
      Members of EALTA SIG Assessing Writing met at the University of Warwick for the first Writing Symposium on Assessment Criteria and Rater Training, a two-day event on Friday/Saturday, 3rd-4th of December 2010, to share our experiences and discuss approaches, challenges and concrete projects within these two topics. We presented projects, challenges and work-in progress, followed by extensive discussion.

    • Conferences.Claudia will be speaking at the IATEFL TEASIG event 19th March 2012 at Glasgow.

      Claudia will be one of the key note speakers at the ELT Convention AT METU Ankara in May 2012.

      The Centre hosted the Language Testing Forum 2011. More information can be found here.

      Claudia delivered one of the EALTA 2011 pre-confernce workshops on Assessing Writing in May 2011. More information here.
    • Consultancy. Staff at the Centre are engaged in international consultancy. More.
    • Tests.
      Our testing staff have been involved in a number of test development projects. For more information on test development, click here.
      For many years we ran the very successful Warwick English Language Test (WELT), which was a university entrance test of English language proficiency.
