Learn English
Since the department was established, the work of the English language Teaching team, within the Centre for Applied Linguistics, has been supporting the development of English language skills and language competence within the university.
Main areas of our work
Our language support provision is divided into five main strands:
-
Pre-sessional English course- this is a five or ten-week intensive English course which takes place during the university's summer vacation.
- In-sessional English language support- language classes, and other means of support, offered all year round (except during vacation time);
- Learning English On-Line at Warwick: these web pages have been designed to offer you help, advice and practice in developing your English language skills on your own.
- Pre-Requisite English Programme (PREP) (formerly Intensive Course in English) - a full-time language improvement programme for graduates.
- Supplementary Courses - In addition to the main PREP course, and depending on demand, these courses may be available.
We also provide dedicated language support to closed groups of students within departments, such as WMG (Warwick Manufacturing Group), the Medical School, Life Sciences, MOAC, Law, Statistics and Warwick Business School, amongst others. If any department is interested in organising a dedicated. targeted course for their students, they should contact us for advice.
The aims of our work in language support
