NEWS FLASH
Listening to Lectures is now available Online.
We have had an increasing number of requests to make our ease courses (Listening to Lectures; Seminar Skills 1: Presentations; Seminar Skills 2: Discussions) available under different operating systems. So we have taken the decision to make all the ease products available online. The first of these is now ready and licenses for ease Listening to Lectures may now be purchased at cal.eleapcourses.com
.
In recognition that some users have previously held annual site licences, those purchasing more than 50 user licenses will benefit from a Special launch price of only $15 (USD) per user, which is more than 50% discount on the usual bulk price of $33 (USD) per user. This special price will only be held for the first couple of months.
Work to also put the two ease Seminar Skills courses online is in progress and it is hoped that both courses will be available in the same format early in 2012.
What is ease?
ease stands for Essential Academic Skills in English. There are currently three courses in the series: Listening to Lectures; Seminar Skills 1: Presentations; Seminar Skills 2: Discussions. The courses comprise interactive activities based on video recordings of authentic lectures, seminar presentations and seminar discussions filmed at the University of Warwick. The recordings were made across the different faculties, and cover the physical, natural and social sciences as well as humanities.
ease courses have been specifically designed for students:
- whose first language is not English
- who need to listen to lectures in English
- who need to attend seminars in English
- who need to give academic presentations in English
- who intend to study in an English speaking country
- who wish to improve their academic listening and speaking skills
The courses can be used on a self-study basis. Alternatively, teachers can use them in class as sources of authentic input material.
