FREE workshop for A'level English Language Teachers at the University of Warwick
Applied Linguistics at the University of Warwick is extending an invitation to A-level English Language teachers for a FREE half-day English Language workshop on Wednesday 29th March 2017, either from 10am until 1pm OR from 2pm to 5pm.
Lunch will be provided for both groups (so there is a good chance to network with other teachers) from 1pm to 2pm.
The workshop will include two sessions in which participants will have the opportunity to enhance their subject knowledge and gain inspiration and ideas for classroom teaching:
English as a Global Language (Dr Richard Smith): Examining two consequences of the rapid spread of English around the world – the development of World Englishes, and the increasing use of English as a Lingua Franca.
Language Death (Dr Ellen Smith-Dennis): Language death is proceeding at an alarming rate: one language dies every two weeks! Find out what language death is, how it happens, why we should care, and what we can do to prevent it.
Any who are interested in attending should reply no later than Monday 13th March indicating their preference for the morning or afternoon session. Contact E.Smith-Dennis@warwick.ac.uk to register.
