Director

Professor Helen Spencer-Oatey is the Director of the Centre for Applied Linguistics. She is responsible for the strategic management of the Centre, and takes particular responsibility for the Centre’s research activities and award-bearing courses.

Academic and Teaching Staff

We currently have about 25 academic and teaching staff, plus a number of others who regularly work with us on specialist short courses or at times of year when the demand for English language teaching and support is particularly high.

Administrative and Support Staff

We have a wonderful team of people who provide financial, technical, administrative and clerical support.

Associate Staff

We have several staff who are formally associated with the Centre. Some are retired members of staff who worked in the Centre for many years. Others are linked with us because of common research interests or through their involvement in our research and development projects.
