Educational Research at Warwick

Educational research is organised around three main research themes:

  • Equity
  • Culture, Communication and Identity
  • Teaching, Learning and Professional Practice

In addition to CIDD, educational research is also undertaken in the following centres:

  • Centre for Educational Studies (CES)
  • Centre for Applied Linguistics (CAL)
  • Centre for Lifelong Learning

In addition, colleagues in other departments also conduct educational research, including the Department of Psychology and Warwick Medical School.

The University is currently developing the Centre for Educational Studies (CES) as a hub and spokes model, building upon the strong foundation of existing interdisciplinary research. The hub and spokes model has CES at the hub with other departments and centres as spokes. In addition to the above, the model is being developed to include the Departments of Psychology, Economics, Politics and International Studies, Theatre Studies, Warwick Business School, Sociology, and others.

We see this as an exciting, innovative approach to recognising education research at Warwick.
