LABOUR MARKET INTELLIGENCE AND ANALYSIS FOR THE WEST MIDLANDS SOUTH NHS WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT CONFEDERATION

The West Midlands South NHS Workforce Development Confederation was established in April 2001, covering the Coventry and Warwickshire area, and in October 2001 commissioned this research project. The Warwick team provided local labour market scenarios, an analysis of quantitative workforce data, and three occupational case studies. The latter focused on recruitment and retention, skill mix and continuing professional development among nurses, health care assistants and radiographers. CEDAR provided the study of nurses, including midwives and health visitors. The main findings were reported at a conference in October 2002 for delegates from the Workforce Development Confederation, Primary Care Trusts, Hospital Trusts, the Department of Health and other organisations.
