    EUROPEAN STUDY OF PRECARIOUS EMPLOYMENT

RESEARCHERS: SHEILA GALLOWAY WITH BEATE BALDAUF, ROBERT LINDLEY, TERENCE HOGARTH AND EUROPEAN PARTNERS

Funded by the European Union's Framework 5 programme, this comparative research investigated the nature and prevalence of precarious employment in five countries. The quantitative analysis was supported by sectoral case studies of the cultural sector, the care sector and call centres. Sheila Galloway contributed the study of the UK's cultural sector. Co-ordinated by the Public University of Navarra, other partners were the Centre d'Études de l'Emploi in Paris, independent research groups in Barcelona and Munich, and the University of Rome La Sapienza. Interim findings were presented at an international conference at Warwick in May 2003 and the final report was submitted to the Commission in April 2004.
