    IMPROVING THE PARTICIPATION OF WOMEN IN THE LABOUR MARKET

    RESEACHERS: SHEILA GALLOWAY WITH JENNY BIMROSE, ANNE GREEN, MICHAEL ORTON, SALLY-ANNE BARNES, FIONA SCHEIBL AND BEATE BALDAUF (IER)

    This project, funded via the Learning and Skills Council, Coventry and Warwickshire, under an ESF co-financing arrangement, involved a targeted review and analysis of research into gender discrimination on a national, regional and sub-regional basis, together with an examination of findings relevant to the sub-region. Objectives were:

    • to undertake a review of existing data on gender discrimination;

    • to identify research gaps for the sub-region;

    • to examine the extent and effectiveness of dissemination strategies for the findings of local research.

    The findings were disseminated to a range of agencies via conferences and an action plan was drawn up based on emergent issues. The project was managed by Dr Jenny Bimrose and is available on IER's web site.
