Course Structure

 

The IPGCE is a one-year course. The course will be delivered to teachers with a mixture of on-line and face-to-face instruction. Teachers will be assigned both an online academic tutor (based at The University of Warwick in the UK) and a country-based teaching coach who will oversee the Teaching Practicum.

 

Module One: Professional Studies (Study Week & Online)

This will cover general principles within education:

  • Cognitive Development
  • Teaching Constructs
  • Inclusive Teaching
  • Assessment and Evaluation
  • Developing Practice

Assessment will consist of a 5000 word essay.

 

Module Two: Subject Studies (Study Week & Online)

This covers all aspects of how to teach your subject, including:

  • Planning
  • Teaching
  • Classroom management

Assessment will consist of a 5000 word essay.

 

Module Three: Professional Practice (Study Week & Online)

This module provides opportunities for observation, practice and investigation in schools. Your practicum coach will be provided by SSAT (Middle East) who are experienced in the context of UAE schools. The coach will work with you to ensure that you have access to advice and guidance to improve and assess your teaching.
